Tips for scanning a digital project, starting with the homepage
- What does the homepage tell you? Look for imagery, a tagline, and other descriptive text that speaks to potential users.
- Look for and read the About page. A good About page informs the user who developed this project; the purpose or need for the work; the goals–including the process of building or final project outcomes; and the audiences.
- What does the main navigation bar tell us about what other content is available in the project?
- Look in the footer. It might contain links to About pages, Staff rosters, logos and links indicating participating institutions, affiliations, funders, or terms of use and copyright.
